69,612 people evacuated from danger to date

58 people evacuated from danger this week

30 trips into deoccupied and frontline territories this week

Last week, our teams made more than 30 trips into frontline areas, delivering aid, evacuating the elderly, and supporting people who live mostly without electricity or running water. In the precious few hours when their phone batteries allow, the residents of these hardhit areas monitor the news for any signs about their future. The locals come to our volunteers with a question that haunts them: "Will people remember us, or will they give us up to the Russian occupation?”

The heroic work of Ukrainian UTC volunteers connects us directly to the most vulnerable people enduring Russia's daily assault on Ukrainian independence. We don't claim a global perspective or the right to comment on geopolitics. But we do hear an important truth that the world needs to know: the people of the Donbas, who are living under threat, who have survived all this time despite Russia's indiscriminate bombings, are now horrified at the thought of being abandoned to Russian control.

The heavily fortified Ukrainian positions have held off murderous attacks for almost four years. Giving them up would not only betray hundreds of thousands of people we have been supporting, but expose Ukraine and Europe to an even more devastating future. We pray that peace, when it comes, will be lasting and just, and that the United States can hold on to its moral compass, standing with those who fight for their freedom against tyranny. Our hope is rooted in our community, which since 2022 has not looked away and has continued to support the people of Ukraine.

Pet Evacuation from Demuryne

This week, Dobra sprava completed an unusual evacuation mission.  A volunteer who cares for pets left behind in the town of Demuryne, located six miles from the frontline, reached out to the team, letting them know that some of the dogs and cats had become a security risk. The animals were giving away army positions by seeking out people and food. If they were not captured and relocated, they would unfortunately have to be euthenized.

The volunteers risked their lives to rescue eight dogs, six puppies, and four cats out of Demuryne.  By posting photos on their social media pages, they were able to find foster or permanent homes for all the animals, some as far away as Kyiv. Two of the pets even took a train ride to their new home, with the conductor taking pity and agreeing to supervise them on their unaccompanied trip.

Inna’s Donbas Trip Summary
Inna’s Krok z nadiyeyu team had a “very eventful” trip to the Donbas last week.

We visited 3 places: Druzhkivka — where we distributed groceries and held a charitable lunch — Sloviansk, and Mykolaivka. The day before in Druzhkivka, a KAB-guided aerial bomb hit 200 meters from the distribution point. A couple of windows cracked and houses all around were damaged.

On Saturday evening in Kramatorsk, not far from us, there was a Shahed drone strike. It shook us pretty good. In the morning we drove through the debris.
